In their last game of the season, the Orange Panthers were swept away by Ocean View Wednesday evening. The first quarter of the game remained rather close as both teams played solid ball. Ocean View maintained ball possession for a large porition of the time, but the Panther’s defese led them in the first quarter which ended with Ocean View only up by one basket.
Both teams showed up in a full court press in the second quarter as each was trying to get the lead on the score board. With a more aggressive offense, Ocean View slowly began to widen their lead. At the end of the quarter, Ocean View doubled their points and ended the first half with a 28-15 lead.
The Panthers went on a downward slope in the second half, which was partly due to their missed shots and free throws which hendered them greatly. By the thrid quarter Ocean View was ahead 41-21 and they did not slow down their scoring at all.
The fourth quarter was the most intense part of the game, with the fans were cheering loudly from both sides of the court. A remarkable site to see were the Panther fans who humbly and postiviley cheered regardless of the deficeint in score. The game came to an end with Ocean View leaving with a 62-28 win over the Panthers. Overall, this game proved to be exciting as the players played with fire and determination.
Ocean View has now secured first in the league for the 9th time in the past ten years. Despite the great loss that Orange suffered, each player maintained great sportsmanship on and off the court.
Notable players for the Panthers included Joseph Vargas, Michael Cole and Eric Arriaga while Avery Johnson and Mike Blyth assisted Ocean View in their victory.
Ocean View host Santa Ana on Friday at 7pm.
