What do you say when someone just has that special spark and displays enthusiasm in all that he or she does? Dynamic, experienced, mature. If that same person was a 5th grader with a servant’s heart, and the team manager for a varsity basketball team would you then say, remarkable, amazing, or wonderful?

As the editor of this publication, I am blessed to encounter wonderful student-athletes, coaches, and their families everyday. The fans are usually fun. I have witnessed good sportsmanship and bad. Occasionally, though someone stands out in a crowd.

This past weekend, at the SPC Championships, David Plumlee from St. Mark’s School in Dallas was a young version of a charismatic figure from the best Disney movie you could watch. He was all of the above. Courtside Champion

Preparing each varsity basketball player’s chair carefully with a clean towel, filling cups with water and Gatorade and neatly arranging them on a tray, all the while smiling and encouraging players as they warmed up on the court Plumlee was an amazing young man with a servant’s heart and a champion’s spirit.

Plumlee, whose brother is on the team, celebrated in the victory as St.Mark’s won the Championship in the last game of the 2-day tournament.

That's me. Don't worry, I'm not nearly as perfect as I sound... smilies/tongue.gif smilies/tongue.gif smilies/tongue.gif smilies/tongue.gif
