Monday at Second Baptist High School there were two intense girls basketball games being played.

Lady Wildcats Give the Cougars No Chance

On the A-Court the Northland Christian Cougars took on the Westbury Wildcats. The Wildcats came to the court ready to get the job done. They dominated the game against the Cougars, playing physical basketball and following their shots giving them several second and third chance opportunities.

With a score of 35-8 Westburyat the half, B. Pender and E. Wilson led their team in points. The Cougars worked together distributing the points allowing Ijeama Waturuocha, Walitia Rolle, Sonja Vuong, and Courtney Epps the chance to put up big numbers. The Wildcats continued their domination after the half, finishing with a final score of 66-13.

The Westbury Wildcats will go on to play Houston Christian Tuesday night at 6:00 at Second Baptist.

Houston Christian Wins at the Buzzer

Playing on the second court was Houston Christian and Concordia Lutheran. This court gave the fans more of a match up. With the teams going back and forth throughout the game.

The fourth quarter brought out the intensity in the players and in the crowd. Each team worked hard for every basket and with a score of 34-34 the girls began to play harder with more fouls taking place. A hard foul was committed against Concordia which gave them the chance to take the lead but with the missed foul shots it made it anybodies game.

In the last seconds the game seemed won when Allie Brandenberg sunk a three pointer tying the game and giving her team the chance to go into overtime, but Ashley Magee would not give up. Magee ran down the court as the clock clicked down to zero and at the buzzer she powered up a layup that sealed the win for Houston Christian with a score of 37-39.

Houston Christian will play Westbury Tuesday at Second Baptist High at 6:00.
