The Westside lady Wolves and the Cy-Fair Bobcats hit the hard wood Saturday at the Campbell Center to play in the Region III 5A Regional Final game. In the first minute of the game two starters from each team hit the ground hard in a collision. This would set the tone for an intense and physical match up between these two teams.

Cy-Fair dominated the first quarter following their shots and leading 15-8. The Wolves started the second quarter off strong catching up with the Bobcats in 2 minutes, but in the process they got into foul trouble. Cy-Fair took advantage of Westside’s ten fouls and made their shots from the free throw line. This did not slow down the Wolves, with fast breaks and three pointers they ended the half leading the Bobcats 24-23.

In the third quarter the teams battled back and forth but Cy-Fair closed the quarter with a four-point lead of 36-32. The fourth quarter belonged to the Bobcats; Westside could not keep up with all of the baskets and fast breaks Cy-Fair continued to have. The Wolves had to make desperation fouls to slow Cy-Fair down but Cy-Fair could not be stopped winning the game 57-43 and advancing on to the Final Four Qualifiers in Austin on March 1st.

Senior Sydney Colson had a great game with 28 points and fellow senior Ausha Hartley contributed 6 points for the lady Wolves.  The sisters, Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike both had double figures with Nneka scoring 21 points and Chiney with 20 points.

Congratulations to both teams for making it this far and all of the support staff that helped them get here including Erin Rouse the stat keeper for Cy-Fair.
