For the second time in under a week, another area high school has been disqualified from their playoff run due to an ineligible player.
Earlier in the week it was announced that Nimitz high school would have to forfeit their win against Hastings due to an ineligible player who did not have acceptable grades to compete. Yates High School is now on the chopping block as they are forced to forfeit their overtime win against the Worthing Colts due to an ineligible player.
The unnamed athlete is said to have been a fifth-year senior while UIL regulations state a player cannot compete if they were enrolled as a freshman more than four years from the time of their competition.
Worthing will replace Yates in the Region III-4A semifinals and are scheduled play Forest Brook at the Katy’s Merrell Center on Friday.
