The Campbell Center hosted the Clear Lake Falcons and the Hastings Fighting Bears Friday night for the Regional Semifinal game. The game started off with matching three pointers by each team but after they got the first points on the board Clear Lake hit the boards hard and finished the first quarter with a 16-13 lead.

In the second quarter, the Falcons played fundamental basketball and as a team they took the time to set up good shot opportunities and followed their shots. This solid game play allowed the Falcons to go into the locker room ahead with a score of 33-24.

Hastings entered the second half ready to play catch up and began knocking down shots. Hastings started full court press and began to narrow the point margin. With 4:00 minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter both teams had seven fouls, which put the teams on the free throw line. Hastings made their free throws and started to catch up in their point deficit to Clear Lake.

The pace picked up as the clock ran down and a traveling call on the Falcons in the last 15 seconds gave the Bears the ball. Hastings took advantage of the possession and added two more points to the board making the score 60-62, Clear Lake. All the Eagles had to do was hold on to the ball in the midst of being fouled by Hastings. They succeeded in doing so and made the two free throws ending the game with the win and a final score of 64-60.

Hastings senior B.J. Holmes led high scorers on both teams with 23 points followed by his fellow senior P.J. Alawoya who had 18 points. Armie Lewis on the Eagles had 21 points and Kendrell Thompson had 14 points in the game.

Clear Lake will take on the Kingwood Mustangs Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the Campbell Center for the regional Finals.
