Julie McKay has spent four years at Kinkaid High School building an impressive athletic resume. Julie letters in 3 dynamic sports including lacrosse, basketball and field hockey and has received several recognitions in all three.
Since 2005 Julie has received All South Zone in field hockey and lacrosse, All SPC in basketball and lacrosse, and has been named the team captain for all three teams. In field hockey Julie also was on the West Regional All-America Team and in the National Futures Tournament.
Her outstanding achievements in field hockey have earned her a student-athlete scholarship to Michigan State where she will be a vital part of the Spartans team. Michigan State’s Coach Rolf said, ” Julie will bring her willingness to work hard and a real fighter's mentality to the team. As a member of the Kinkaid and Houston Hockey Club teams, Julie fought to put Texas field hockey on the map. She will be able to inject these characteristics into a young and talented Spartan program.”
Julie has also made a name for herself on the lacrosse field. She is one of the high scorers for Kinkaid, contributing a great field presence that makes her a role model for the team. In Wednesday’s night’s game against Bellaire Julie scored her teams only four goals allowing them to stay in the game.
Julie is a great all around athlete whose accomplishments will continue to grow on the collegiate level.
