The Seven Lakes girls soccer team played host to Lamar Consolidated Friday night in a District 24-4A finale match up. The Lady Spartans have already clinched the district title, but that did not keep them from recording another ‘w’ with a 2-0 victory.

Both teams came out and played a physical match up and their goalkeepers were tested frequently. The ball stayed on the Spartan side of the field for most of the first half, but several shots at the goal sailed either wide right or left.

Of course, all of that changed mid way through the first half when a corner kick set up Seven Lakes’ midfielder Brittany Yonkin. Yonkin was awaiting the kick and scored on a header.

More shots were attempted at the goals, but no more were made. The Spartans went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The second was much like the first, with each team fighting for that much-needed momentum. The Lady Mustangs came close on a few occasions, but could not put one home.

But, the Spartans were not done. With just under six minutes remaining in the game, forward Mollie Dean scored a goal on a slide kick that elude the Mustang goalie.

The Seven Lakes team has finished the regular season and know begins its preparation for postseason play.
