Memorial’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team hosted Clear Lake at Memorial High School on Wednesday. Though Clear Lake scored multiple goals in their previous game, they were unable to repeat this against Memorial; the Mustangs dominated Clear Lake with a half time score of 14 to 1 and a final score of 21 to 2.
Clear Lake started off strong, yet not quite powerful enough to overcome Memorial’s astounding offensive skills and team work. Throughout the game, Clear Lake had trouble with their defense; they had difficulty blocking the ball and getting it away from their goal. Clear Lake’s Korri Duncan and Kaylie Flisowski were the only players able to penetrate through Memorial’s defense to score a single goal each.
Memorial’s best offensive player, claims Memorial head coach Scott Elmore, was Katie Herrington with 3 goals and 4 assists. Also, he praises the entire team for their incredible defense. One thing to the team must work on, though, would have to be tightening up their plays, yet, overall, the game was a good practice for their upcoming game against their rival school, St. Johns.
