The Stratford Spartan boy’s lacrosse team is ranked number two in the state of Texas, according to Laxpower.com. Thursday night at Westchester they proved why. The Spartans destroyed the St. Thomas Eagles 14-1 in a physical match in which they took 24 shots on goal.

The Spartans scored only five goals in the first half, with five different players putting the ball in the net. Although the Spartan offense struggled in the first half, they would have very little problems scoring in the second.

“I told our offense to start running our offense and quit forcing the ball,” explained Stratford coach Matt Carr. “Once we stopped forcing, we were able to run our offense, and execute good passing.”

The Spartans came out in the second half and dominated, putting up nine goals to seal a 14-1 victory.

Spartan attacker Mark Crawshaw and Spartan mid-fielder Walker Colt were Stratford’s high-point scorers, with three goals each. Crawshaw and Spartan attacker Trevor Davis both had three assists as well.

Stratford went 3-0 last week as they earned victories over Cinco Ranch (13-9), Taylor (14-4), and Clear Lake (17-4). They stand right behind Cy-Fair who is ranked number one in Division II.
