Friday and Saturday at the Rice Track Stadium the 25th Annual Victor Lopez Bayou Classic took place where high schools and colleges from all over Texas competed. The track meet was delayed on Saturday by two hours due to the rain making the first event start at 1:00 p.m.

The first event taking place on the wet track was the boys 4x100m relay. Angleton High School took first with a time of 41.66 followed by Galveston Ball and Pasadena Dobie. The girls’ 4x100m relay followed and Alief Elsik earned the first place medal with a time of 48.07, Alief Hastings 48.17 in second and Pearland getting third with a time of 48.55.

The 800m girls saw Nia Fluker, a 13 year-old from Christway Academy, break the old meet record of 2:11.30 with a time of 2:11.02. For the boys in the 800m, Julius Michael from Houston Lamar came in first with a time of 1:58.74 closely followed by Jordan McGowen from Cinco Ranch who came in second with a time of 1:58.90.

The girls 100m hurdles saw Karyn Lacour from Humble win gold with a time of 14.38 and for the boys Jamele Mason from Spring Westfield won with a time of 14.70.

Wilson Carr from Conroe Oak Ridge took first in the boys 400m with a time of 49.94 and
Quinterra Charles from Spring Westfield in the girls 400m came in first with a time of 56.18.

The boys 100m saw Donald Monroe from Angleton win with a time of 10.50 and Erica Alexander from Friendswood take first with a time of 11.87.
