In the fifth, Houston Christian again worked their way around the bases with Nino Leyja playing old school pickle making it from second to third base and Paul Prestera hitting him in adding another run to the scoreboard for the Mustangs.
The Eagles did not give up. Second Baptist loaded the bases and after two hits and two runners batted in, the Eagles were within one run of the Mustangs.
The sixth inning remained a stalemate between the two teams with both teams getting hits but unable to convert them into runs. The score remained Houston Christian leading 3-2 entering the seventh inning.
The top of the seventh inning was a big one for the Mustangs. Leyja hit a home run followed by a Prestera hit into right field for a triple. Prestera was hit in by a pop fly that got away.
