The Aldine Mustangs earned their second district win Tuesday afternoon with an 11-3 victory over the Northbrook Raiders.

The Raiders struggled defensively in the first inning giving up six runs to give the Mustangs a commanding lead. The Raider defense did not give up any runs in the next two innings while the Mustangs gave up one. The Raiders finished the third inning strong defensively with a double play ignited by the shortstop.

Heading into the bottom of the fourth, the Mustangs had control with a 6-1 advantage. It would soon increase when Allen Villareal hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to give Aldine an 8-1 advantage. However, the Raiders would earn those two back at the top of the fifth when the pitcher hit a bases loaded single to drive in two runs.

The Mustangs earned another three runs in the bottom of the inning securing the win for Aldine’s Mark Uribe. Uribe also went 2-4 at the plate with a single, a double, and five RBI’s. He pitched a complete game in 110 pitches and had 10 strikeouts. Villareal finished the game 2-4 as well with a homerun, a double, and three RBI’s. Raymond Garcia also belted one over the fence for the Mustangs for his sixth homer of the season.

Aldine will travel to Memorial on Thursday to play the undefeated Mustangs and Northbrook will host Nimitz in their next district game on Thursday as well.
