For the second time this season the Cinco Ranch Cougars have shut out Morton Ranch on the softball field.

The Cougs started off with a big first inning scoring seven runs on seven hits. Scores for Cinco came from solid hitting from the Couar line up. Among players that scored in the first inning were; Hollie Pinchback, Kristie Chin, Meghan Brown, Mary Beth Allcorn, Brittany Svab, Amanda Pennington, and Alex Reynolds.

In the second inning the Cougars put up two more runs as Chin scored on a fielding error and Brown scored on an Allcorn single.

In the top of the third inning Jessica Stoelke made it to first on a single and then stole second to put herself in scoring position. Chin earned the RBI bringing home Stoelke with a single. Chin also stole second to put herself in scoring position for none other than Meghan Brown who hit a single to knock her in.

The top of the third inning put a halt on scoring for the rest of the game. Neither team was able to put any more runs on the board due to some great defensive plays by both teams.

Cinco pitcher Shannon Smith gave up two hits and struck out seven.

Cinco Ranch remains at the top of their district with a 9-1 record while the Mavericks fall to 5-5 in district play.

Cinco will face Alief Taylor on Tuesday and the Mavericks will travel to Elsik to take on the Mighty Rams on Tuesday as well.
