Field events and running prelims action for TAPPS District 4 5A started with a bang Thursday evening at the Lutheran South Academy track. Eight girls teams and six boys teams lined up to compete.

The ultimate goal for all the present teams is a district championship and those precious shiny medals. After a full day of field events and the 3200-meter run, Concordia Lutheran and Houston Christian (girls and boys teams) seem to be in the driver’s seat holding the No. 1 and 2 spots.

Final races will commence tomorrow and eight (qualifying) athletes will line to see who will be victorious. In the 100-meter dash, Westbury Christian’s Ijeoma Waturoacha and Houston Christian’s Steven Geloneck recorded the top times in the event (13.12,11.06).

Waturoacha and Fort Bend Baptist’s Landon Johnson were the top runners in the 200 meters. Concordia Lutheran’s Lauren Rover and Christian Hunt of Fort Bend Baptist owned the hurdles competeition. Rover posted a 16.77 in the 100 hurdles and a 300-hurdle time of 48.71.

In the open quarter (400 meters for the uninitiated), Sophie Peeter (59.00) of Awty and Houston Christian’s Jonathan Magiera (51.66) had the fastest times.

For the 3200-meter run and field events, the results were final. The Top 3 finishers are as follows:
