Lansford Field hosted the MacArthur Generals and the Nimitz Cougars Friday night.  Before the game was underway the Cougars recognized their senior players and their parents for Nimitz’s Senior Night. In this District game the Cougars controlled the game and ended with a final score of 7-3.

In the first inning Nimitz’s catcher, Augustin LeBlanc hit one to left field to get a runner in. The Cougars stopped the Generals from scoring and held a 1-0 lead through the second and entering the third inning.

The third inning saw two runs off two hits to extend the Cougar lead to 3-0. T.J. Perkins and Christopher Brown found the holes in the outfield and batted two runners in. The Generals still struggled getting on base and the fourth inning was a stalemate between the two teams with great fielding to keep the score at 3-0, Nimitz leading going into the fifth inning.

Brown once again found a sweet spot in center field to get two runners in and land himself on second base. With another hit, a Cougar was able to slide home to end the top of the fifth with six runs. The Generals started connecting with the ball in the fifth, getting the ball past the short stop and into the outfield to add three runs to the board. The Cougars were within three ending the fifth 6-3, Nimitz lead.

In the sixth inning both teams did a good job to hold the score at 6-3 and in the seventh inning Nimitz’s Hector Menchaca was able to take advantage of a General error on an infield hit and get to third base while another runner got home. The Cougars then held MacArthur to three runs in the bottom of the seventh to end the game with a 7-3 score.
