The MacArthur Generals took on the Nimitz Cougars Friday. This game was to determine the second place position in District 19-5A.

The first inning was scoreless by both teams but going into the second inning MacArthur got one run to hold a 1-0 lead through the third and starting the fourth inning.

In the fourth inning Nimitz tried to make a double play but with a missed tag by the shortstop ad then an overthrown ball at first base allowed the Generals to make it home to extend their lead to 2-0.

MacArthur again had hot bats in the fifth inning getting players around the bases and in position to score. With a player on second and third base the Generals pitcher, Sarah Perales knocks the ball to center field to get her two runners in and give her team four runs going into the bottom of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth Nimitz’s pitcher, Jessica Davis hit one to outfield and worked her way around to third base. Then Alexzandra Serna hit Davis in to get a run on the board and end the inning with a Generals lead of 4-1.

In the sixth inning Nimitz had three quick groundouts to get themselves back up to the plate. MacArthur walks two players and with a loose ball at home a Cougar ran in to close the inning with a score of 4-2.

Estee Adame from MacArthur gets a hit to center field to allow Krystal Herrera to run home in the top of the seventh and with two strike outs and a running catch by the center fielder, MacArthur ended the game with a final score of 5-2 and secures the second place position in the district.

For the Generals, Perales had 13 strikeouts and was 3-4, Herrera and Ashley Estrada were 2-4, and Adame had 3 hits.
