The Langham Creek Lobos attended prom Friday night, but they wasted no time dancing around with the Cy-Falls Golden Eagles earlier in the afternoon.
Although the Eagles struck first in the second inning with a two RBI double by Eric Bukowskie, it was all Lobos from then on. The Lobos retaliated in the bottom of the second with a seven run inning of their own. Austin Freitas got things rolling for the Lobos with two RBI single to right. Corey Maines kept it going with a double that drove in another run, but the biggest hit of the inning came from Mario Eramo who hit a three run homer to give the Lobos a commanding 7-2 lead.
“After the Cy-Fair game we had to refocus ourselves to the offensive part of the game,” explained Lobo coach Armando Sedeno. “It really seemed to work for us today.”
Langham Creek scored added three more runs to their lead in the next two innings while shutting out the Eagles. There could have been more runs in the fourth for the Lobos, but runner’s interference was called on a base runner and costs Langham Creek their final out of the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Lobos needed only two runs to end the game on a run rule. No problem said Zak Leonhardt who hit a walk-off two RBI double to secure a 12-2 victory for Langham Creek.
Lobo pitcher Matt Rein improved to 8-0 on the season as the team improved to 25-2.
The Lobos will face off against Cy-Springs for senior night this coming Tuesday and the Eagles will host Jersey Village on Tuesday as well.
