Friday evening at the Lutheran South Academy track, the TAPPS 4 5A track finals took place with the competition as hot as the weather. The eight finalist lined up and put their best foot forward.
The TAPPS district champions were Concordia Lutheran (girls-160 points) and Houston Christian (boys-203 points). The girls runner up was Houston Christian with 116 points and boys was Fort Bend Christian with 114.
The Lady Crusaders took first in the 4x200 relay and second in the 4x400 relay. Sprinters in the HC Mustang camp cleaned up finishing first in both the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relays. They took second in the 4x400 relay.
High point girl performer was Concordia Lutheran’s Lauren Rover (41 points). Rover earned first place in both the 100 hurdle (17.36) and 300-meter hurdles (47.75). She also took the gold in the high jump (5-0) and a bronze medal in the discus throw (85-11.5).
Rover was also the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay that took second.
For the boys, Christian Hunt of Fort Bend Baptist earned the Eagle team 31 points. Hunt was first place in the 300-meter hurdles (42.27) and the pole vault (10-6). He was second in the 110-hurdles (15.41) and third with the 4x400 relay team.
Awty’s Sophie Peeters and Houston Christian’s London Lomax both received three gold medals for their running performances.
