The Seven Lakes Spartans hosted the Terry Rangers Saturday. The Rangers were tied for fourth and used this win, 14-3 to improve their district record.
Terry was able to get four runs on the board and hold Seven Lakes to only one run going into the second inning. In the second inning the Spartans did not allow the Rangers to score and started the bottom of the second with several doubles that led to a score of 4-3, Ranger lead.
The third inning was a battle back and forth for somebody to score but neither team had any luck and closed the third with the score reaming 4-3. In the fourth, Terry got another hit to center field allowing a runner to come home and then held off the Spartans still holding the lead, 5-3.
The fifth inning belonged to the Rangers. Terry loaded the bases and then took advantage of Seven Lakes indecisions and errors on what base to throw to. Terry was able to extend their lead to 11-3 going into the sixth.
With a run rule called in the sixth Terry hit hard grounders and made their way around the bases in the top of the sixth. The Rangers continued to have great fielding that gave them the win with a final score of 14-3.
Terry’s head coach, Coach Jeff Ives said, “We played well, we got the ball into play and capitalized on Seven Lakes mistakes. When we had runners in position we hit to score.”
The Rangers ended the game with 10 hits, 14 runs, and no errors. The Spartans had 3 hits, 3 runs, and 3 errors. For the Rangers the pitcher, Caitlin Swaine had 10 strikeouts, Nicollette Drabek had 4 RBI’s and 1 double, and Joyce Hernandez had a double.
